This tokkuri (Japanese sake carafe) features a simple, strong shape decorated with elegant and delicate patterns using gold. It is handcrafted by Kinzan Kiln and especially excels in kinsai, one of the famous Kutani ware's glazing techniques with a gold leaf.

In pursuit of making their finest works, Kinzan Kiln has an exceptional production method that involves many creative processes from designing the shape of the porcelain to grinding the gold powder exclusively for their products.

This "Shugu" series is made by product designer Yoshida Moritaka, with a focus on easy-to-use and beautiful shapes. The method used was to make a model and verify the shape of each item on a real scale, and then to discuss it with the craftsmen who make the porcelain base over and over again.
