John. J. Bowman Bourbon commemorates the great, great uncle of Abram S. Bowman, who founded A. Smith Bowman Distillery. The hand select some of the oldest barrels in the warehouse to produce a single barrel bourbon with hints of toffee, leather, figs, and almonds. John. J. Bowman was awarded Worlds Best Bourbon in 2017.

For over 200 years, our Distillery has been defined by a dedication to one craft: making fine bourbon whiskey. By honoring tradition and embracing change, Buffalo Trace Distillery has earned its place of leadership among the legendary spirits makers of the world.

In 1934 A. Smith Bowman built a distillery on his family farm in Fairfax County and turned it into a remarkable enterprise. With the help of his two sons, he began whiskey production and until the 1950s, A. Smith Bowman Distillerywas the sole producer of legal whiskey in the Commonwealth of Virginia. Today, our historic, family-owned distillery, sits 60 miles from its original location and is Virginia's most award-winning distillery.
