Pierre Girardin Corton-Charlemagne Grand Cru 2022

Pierre-Vincent Girardin is a 13th generation Burgundian winemaker who grew up among the vines in his fathers Domaine. Starting his own label with the family holdings of Les Folatires in Puligny-Montrachet at the age of 21, he has become a formidable force among young winemakers in Burgundy. Expanding beyond the 4.5 hectares, his family contacts brought him access to top growers in Puligny Folatires, Volnay Clos des Chnes, Pommard Epenots, Corton-Charlemagne.

From the Corton-Charlemagne plots in the village of Pernand-Vergelesses and Ladoix Serrigny (blended together). The vines are planted on clay-limestone soil with east exposure in Ladoix Serrigny and west exposure in Pernand Vergelesses on a steep slop. Vinified as whole cluster, then 12 months in 456l oak barrels (100% new) and 6 months in steel tank. A precise and saline wine, hints of wet rock. Straight and crystalline on the mouth, with a pleasant acidity. With an ageing potential of up to 25 years.
